The table below lists the major changes from release 18.104.22.168 to 22.214.171.124. The help system and tutorials have been updated and expanded. This release is compatible with Windows 10.
Changes up to 126.96.36.199 are given in the changes document on the download page. The previous release 188.8.131.52 only had the Photomontage changes of umbrellas, borders and exclusion zone movement relative to 184.108.40.206.
Note for Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 you should set the program to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode.
The major changes are improved turbine geometry specification, text boxes in the Designer, boundary files, shape files, the ISO 9613 noise standard, shadow flicker merged listings and shutdown list, and extended optimisation constraints including fast constraint satisfaction. Most of these changes are only available to WindFarm standard version users as shown in the list.
There have also been some bug fixes and a minor correction to energy yield calculations has been made. The latter relates to the integration of the highest wind speed bin and in tests the resulting energy yield changes were less than +/-0.1%. The correction applies to the Energy Yield, Turbine Studio, Wind Flow and Designer modules. In all of these it is possible to toggle between the corrected calculation (automatically used) and the previous one using ctrl-Y.
The changes from the release 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168 are mainly bug fixes and are as follows:
1 a fix in the editing of noise data and making noise calculations (correction to individual turbine noise levels)
1 a fix on exporting Release 3 layouts
2 an improvement in the use of large images in the Photomontage module
1 a correction to the shutdown list in Shadow Flicker (please re-run any created with the 4.2 release)
1 a correction to individual turbine noise calculations where there are different turbines types
1 a correction to noise calculations where there are different turbines types and a tonal correction is required (please re-run any calculations prior to 22.214.171.124)
2 a correction to numbering added turbines in a layout when there is a gap in the numbering
3 a fix to Photomontage rendering when the sun is overhead
1 a correction in Optimisation when some fixed turbines are being used.
2 a correction to the reading of wind step files
3 a correction to exporting images when deeply nested folders create a very long path name.
4 an improvement in merging multiple grid files when they have some missing data
5 in the Designer a new menu item Options / Project Check Settings has been added to control the checks on files being in their correct project folders
6 the grid label font can now be set in the Designer and each module from the View menu. It is persistent with each module. The grid label font is no longer controlled in the Designer / Edit / Symbols & Labels menu item.
7 in the Photomontage module changed adaptive grid settings can be saved as the default
8 if noise calculations using ISO 9613 with broadband spreading are used a warning is displayed
1 a correction to allow for window tilt when checking if the window is above ground
2 the correction of false message (error number = 0) when converting height data
3 a check on and correction of time wrapping in Shadow Flicker when near the poles
4 a correction to the reading of attributes from shape files in the Contour Viewer
5 a correction for displaying regions larger the the calculation region in the ZVI module
6 an improvement in the Photomontage module where large photographs can now be tiled (standard version only)
7 the help system and tutorials have been updated along with new information on the use and editing of complex turbine data files
8 added some complex format EWT turbines to the turbine database
1 a correction to the export of landscape sections in the Designer, ZVI and Radar modules
2 a correction in the Photomontage module to remove a black line when rendering with blur
3 a correction in the Photomontage module when updating rendered turbine locations in the Designer
4 a correction in the Photomontage module to multi-wireframe export
5 in the Photomontage module the adaptive grid can now be set in metres (previously km)
6 in the Photomontage module a “reset to defaults” button has been added to the Options / Turbine Settings and Scale menu
1 a correction to special turbine data
2 a correction in the Photomontage module to imported direction when appending viewpoints
3 a correction in the Photomontage module when drawing umbrellas with some not displayed
1 in the Photomontage module the vertical spacing between overlapping umbrellas can now be specified
2 the installation procedure has been improved to allow for Windows 8
1 An improvement to HASP behaviour in Windows 10
