WindFarm Release 4.2.2.2 Download

Important if Upgrading from 4.1.2.3 or Earlier

A number of file changes have been made in this new release. In particular the layout and turbine data files have had major revisions. Consequently the files are not backward compatible, and therefore it is necessary to back up the data of any projects previously developed. It is also essential that all users that share files within a company are updated to the new release at the same time.

The simplest form of backup is to copy the entire default project folder C:\WindFarmR4 to a new folder, say C:\WindFarmR4Backup. You may of course be using a different drive and / or name for the default folder.

After backing up your projects uninstall your present release using the Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs. Then install the new release and your projects should be ready for use.

Upgrading 4.2.1.1 through 4.2.2.1

If you are upgrading 4.2.1.1 to 4.2.2.1 you only need to download and install WF4222-Programs.exe, which will automatically guide you through updating the 4.2.1.1 to 4.2.2.1 releases. There is no need to uninstall WindFarm.

The changes note and 3D data are unchanged from the 4.2.1.1 release..

Important

On Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 after installation please set the program to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

Also there is no need to update your HASP using the WindFarm Authorisation program.

Downloads

The WindFarm download has been divided into 4 parts.

  • The minimum download is the WindFarm program, which must be installed first.
  • The tutorials are an essential tool for learning to use WindFarm.
  • The WindFarm 3D data is needed if you want to explore the WindFarm 3D module’s capabilities.
  • The HASP device driver as detailed at the end of this page

The WindFarm 3D data download only contains one file C:\WindFarmR4\Turh\Terrain\TTurh001.tdba that is used in the tutorials and the Quick Tour and has not changed. If you have an existing installation you could copy this file to another location and then restore it after installing the program and tutorials, thereby avoiding the large download. Alternatively it should be in the back up.

The tutorials and help system have been fully updated, with the former including information on the new features. For more information on the changes in this release please download the changes document.

Installation

After backing up your projects uninstall your present WindFarm release if earlier than 4.2.1.1 using the Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs and remove your HASP, as it should not be attached during the installation procedure.

Once the program file is downloaded double-click on the downloaded file to start the installation, then follow the instructions. If the tutorials and 3D data are being installed they must be installed after the WindFarm program.

During installation you will be asked to confirm two file locations (if updating make sure you use the same location to which WindFarm is already installed):

Program files :

The default is C:\Program Files\ReSoft\WindFarmR4

The executables and help files will be stored here

Data files :

The default is C:\WindFarmR4

This forms the base directory for future projects and the sample case is installed in the sub-folder .\TURH along with wind turbine data in .\WTDB and tutorials in .\TUTORIAL.

Installation is straightforward and it is recommended that the default file locations be used (please avoid using "My Documents").

HASP

This release of WindFarm is for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 and uses a hardware security device called ‘HASP’. This has to be removed during the installation process, but attached to your USB port in order to run WindFarm. Use of the HASP allows you to install WindFarm on more than one computer (within your company and country), but only one computer can run WindFarm at any given time.

You now need to download and install the HASP device driver from the HASP Information page. When it has been installed re-boot your computer and set XP SP2 compatibility mode for Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10

You can then start WindFarm from Start->All Programs->WindFarm Release 4.
